India is where we buy most of our cotton. The mill base around Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Punjab covers spinning through to finishing, which means a single order can be placed for greige, dyed or fully finished cloth without moving between countries. Minimum quantities are among the most workable of any origin, which suits buyers ordering a few hundred metres per colour.
It is also the easiest origin for certified production. OEKO-TEX Standard 100 is widely held and GOTS-certified organic cotton is genuinely available rather than nominal, which matters for buyers supplying European retail.
The trade-off is lead time variability around the monsoon and major festival periods. We build that into the dates we quote rather than promising schedules that will slip.
